In November 1932, Eva Braun attempted suicide by shooting herself with her father's pistol, but she then rang Hitler's doctor, who came in time to save her, and the whole thing was hushed up. Hitler came to visit her with flowers at the clinic where she was recovering.

In 1944 Fegelein married Gretl Braun, the sister of Adolf Hitler's mistress, Eva Braun. Fegelein was a known playboy and had many extramarital affairs. Hitler's secretaries, Christa Schroeder and Traudl Junge-Humps, state Fegelein was popular socially, particularly with women. He could be funny, amusing, and charming.

On April 28, 1945, Hitler had Eva Braun's brother-law killed. Hermann Fegelein was found drunk, trying to flee Germany, and in the possession of stolen goods from Berlin. He was also in the company of a woman that was not Eva's sister. Apparently, the woman escaped out of a window when Nazis arrived to haul Fegelein off to Hitler's bunker.
