A new instrument panel was designed with sliding vertical switches on either side of the speedometer, and hooded headlamps debuted as well as larger taillamps. Kaiser bought Willys in 1954. The Aero name was gone for 1955 when all that remained were the Willys Custom four-door and Willys Bermuda two-door hardtop.

The new 1952 Aero-Willys came in four series: Aero-Lark, Aero-Wing, Aero-Ace and Aero-Eagle. Power came from a 2.6 litre (161 cu in.) six-cylinder engine. The Lark's had side valves, and developed 75 horsepower. The others had the same basic engine, but with an F-head conversion (inlet valves in the cylinder head, exhausts in the block), good.

In place of the original L-head six is a 627-hp 454-cu.in. LSX V-8 topped with an intake, custom machined by Pete, to accept a Holley Quick Fuel 1,250-cfm carburetor. The carburetor has been modified as well: sleeved down to 850 cfm to make the fuel delivery less aggressive. Pete's additional custom engine-bay touches include a cowl induction.

In the midst of the roaring twenties, Willys produced over 200,000 units in 1925 alone. Willys encountered financial problems during the depression but was saved by World War II's demand for jeeps. After the war, the company, led by Ward Canaday, again wanted to try its hand at passenger cars and finally achieved this goal with the Aero in 1952.
